Where Do We Truly Reside, We Who Navigate Modern Life?

Our contemporary society is awash with information. Open the internet, and countless data points surge forth; browse social media, and others' 'ideal lives' leap into view. We are constantly exposed to a dizzying whirl of changing environments, diverse values, and an unending tide of new choices.

Amidst all this, have you ever found yourself asking: 'Where am I now, and what am I truly feeling?' or 'What is it that I genuinely desire?' — only to find no clear answer, instead encountering a vague sense of unease?

Perhaps we are gradually losing touch with our own 'place' in the world, and our 'authentic sensations.'

The Future Remains Obscured When the Present is Unseen

In life, we constantly move towards the future, crafting plans and aspirations. Yet, the precision of these plans hinges entirely on how accurately we can discern our current standing — that is to say, our 'grasp of the present reality.'

If we do not know where we currently are, even with the most magnificent map, we cannot reach our destination. We may lose our way, plagued by impatience and a sense of powerlessness. Emotions like 'I don't know what I want to do' or 'I'm anxious about staying like this' are precisely signs that we 'lack a clear grasp of our present reality.'

Day by day, we are unconsciously swayed by an abundance of information, the expectations of others, or societal values that dictate 'how one should be.' As a result, our internal compass falters, and the authentic voice of our true self becomes inaudible.

Overthinking and the Apprehension Towards the 'Unfathomable'

Why has grasping our own present reality become so exceptionally challenging?

One reason, I believe, lies in our tendency to 'overthink with our minds, while ignoring the body's sensations.' We strive to logically analyze and comprehend things. However, unseen sensations and the ineffable voices of the body are often dismissed as 'things we don't quite understand.'

Furthermore, humans instinctively harbor fear and caution towards the 'unfamiliar' or 'unfathomable.' We sometimes categorize it broadly as 'spiritual' and attempt to distance ourselves from it. However, this psychological reaction of 'fear because it's unknown' also causes us to suppress the 'unfathomable sensations' within ourselves.

By continuously ignoring the subtle signals from our body and the quiet emotions felt by our heart — we lose even our most fundamental 'sense of place,' becoming easily swayed by external information and the opinions of others.

Your Future Unfolds from Knowing Your Present

Precisely grasping your present reality is by no means simple. Yet, it is the crucial first step, the most vital foundation for envisioning the future you truly desire and moving towards it.

To reaffirm your own 'place' and reclaim your authentic self, you must temporarily withdraw from external clamor and first turn your gaze deeply inward, towards your own mind and body.

In our next discussion, we will delve deeper into methods for 'connecting with oneself' to achieve this.
