"Because I am this kind of personality,"
"Because I am this kind of person."
Unconsciously, we affix "labels" to our very being, growing accustomed to living within those confines. Indeed, defining oneself can be a crucial psychological process for finding our place in society and forging a mental foundation. Yet, might this "excessive definition" be constricting your present mind and body, giving rise to a "stagnation" that makes life feel cumbersome?
We Were Born to Experience
From the perspective of Unfolding Bodywork, we perceive the body not merely as physical flesh, but as a living "résumé" that mirrors the very process of life itself.
If our purpose in entering this world was to "experience," then to solidify ourselves into a single, unyielding form would be an immense disservice. Excessive attachment to a fixed "self" can lead us to be swept away by information, dulling our innate sensations.
Instead, to live with a "Kanjizai" (観自在) mind—a mind that perceives things multi-dimensionally without being tethered to a single viewpoint—is the very key to transcending challenges and enriching our existence.
We are Taught How to Build, but Not How to Dismantle
In school and society, we are diligently taught how to "construct ourselves" and uphold "consistency." Yet, we are seldom instructed in the art of internal metamorphosis—the creative destruction—of how to "dismantle" an outmoded self and "reforge" a new one.
Consequently, many individuals harbor profound resistance and fear towards "changing themselves" or "dismantling their former self." To persist in sitting on an old, rickety chair, clinging to "rules that bind us," is akin to willingly refusing to adapt to the currents of life's environment.
Creative Destruction: The Very Law of Nature
A glance across the natural world reveals that constant change and continuous metabolism are the very essence of life's activities.
・Cellular Renewal: The cells within our bodies are reborn anew each day.
・Emotional Fluidity: Emotions are, by their very nature, "living entities" that surge and recede like waves.
・Spontaneous Somatic Change: The body inherently possesses an intrinsic will to "unfold and transform."
To "dismantle" your former self is not to vanish into nothingness. Rather, it is the profound process of shedding an outdated shell, unfolding into a more liberated, buoyant, and "authentic way of being."
Beginning from the Body: The Art of Creative Self-Dismantling
If you find yourself thinking, "I don't know how to dismantle myself," take a moment to pause your thoughts and gently direct your awareness to your body.
Unfolding Bodywork offers compassionate assistance in unraveling the "habits of thought" and "twists of life" that have become etched within your soma. As the body subtly softens from within and its form begins to shift, the "must-do" constraints that once bound you will naturally begin to dissolve.
Why not relinquish your attachment to a specific "chair"—a role or definition—and instead delight in nimbly leaping to new spaces?
To avoid over-defining yourself, and instead surrender to the inherent flow of change: this, we believe, is the most effortless yet profoundly powerful way to navigate modern life.
Will you listen to the whispers of your body and embark upon your own "new story"?
We are currently accepting reservations for a variety of individual sessions. We invite you to experience the profound restart of your life through the transformative journey of your body.
