「大丈夫」って、ホント? なぜあなたの思考は「嘘」をつくのか

Eyecatch

"I'm not weary, I can still endure." "This circumstance, it must be the correct path." "Those words, surely devoid of malice."

Daily, within the chambers of our minds, we ponder, discern, and strive to reconcile ourselves with our circumstances. As though thought itself were our unerring compass.

Yet, what if this very "thought" is, in truth, prone to immediate deception? And what if unknowingly adhering to these thought-spun untruths is, in fact, contributing to the discord in your mind and body?

Unveiling the Deceptions of Thought

At times, to safeguard ourselves or to seamlessly integrate into society, we unconsciously permit our thoughts to weave "untruths." This is not inherently malicious; rather, it is a defensive response wherein thought springs forth to obscure "realities we wish not to feel" or "inconvenient truths."

For instance, have you ever experienced moments such as these?

  • Your mind affirms, "I'm fine, I'm not weary," yet your body feels heavy as lead.
  • You assure yourself, "This is the correct choice," yet an inexplicable tremor resonates deep within your chest.
  • You strive to rationalize, "That person bears no ill will," yet the haze within your heart persists.

Each of these serves as a poignant sign that your thoughts are weaving "untruths." Even as your mind descends its shutter with "It's okay," your body and emotions relentlessly convey their genuine signals.

The Genesis of Thought's Deception: Homeostasis and the Instinct for Survival

What underlies such a phenomenon? At its core lies our remarkable "homeostasis (the inherent ability to maintain stability)."

Homeostasis, at its essence, is a primal survival instinct designed to perpetuate our existence. When confronted with stress or discomfort, the body endeavors to "adapt." What once registered as unpleasant, it begins to "feign not feeling" in order to persist within that environment.

The very architect of this "pretense of not feeling" is none other than "thought" itself. When thoughts such as "This is trivial," "I merely need to persevere," or "This perspective is the correct one" arise, we avert our gaze from discomfort and truth, striving to navigate the moment.

Yet, these thought-spun "untruths" never truly resolve the core issue. They merely serve to "lodge" that stress and those suppressed emotions deep within the body's recesses. Years of accumulated "thought-lies" will, in time, inevitably manifest in our physical forms as chronic imbalances of mind and body.

The Body: A Sanctuary of Unyielding Truth

How, then, might we discern these "thought-spun untruths" and gaze upon the unvarnished truth?

The key rests within the grasp of your very "body."

The body, unequivocally, never deceives. Regardless of how fervently your thoughts whisper, "It's okay,"

  • Your body, through tightened shoulders, declares, "I am profoundly weary."
  • Your body, through shallow breaths, conveys, "I am burdened by unease."
  • Your body, through digestive disquiet, reveals, "There is something yet unassimilated."

Your body incessantly speaks the truth of "the here and now." It is the direct conduit to felt truth, unfiltered by thought – that is your body.
