At Unfolding Bodywork sessions, we embrace four pillars: bodywork, communication, nutrition, and exercise. A particularly distinctive feature is our unique approach of gently releasing tension in the body while listening to your story.
Here, we lend an ear to a wide range of topics—from concerns about your body, recent endeavors, and dreams, to family and work relationships, or even last night's dinner. However, we do not pry with intrusive questions or assert our own opinions. We value the stance of respectfully and simply listening to the stories and words that naturally emerge from our clients.
No Need for a "Cure Me" Mindset: Our 'Non-Intervention' Stance Trusts Your Innate Healing Power
One of the charms of bodywork, as I see it, is the stance of 'non-intervention.' This means that I do not "cure" clients; rather, I sincerely believe in their own innate healing power and "assist" in the process through which that healing unfolds.
We would be delighted if clients could let go of the "be cured" mindset, take "responsibility" for their own symptoms, and come with an attitude of "just lend me a hand." Through many years of experience, I have personally realized that clients' active participation in sessions—that is, a collaborative relationship between the client and the bodyworker—significantly enhances the healing effects.
Listening to the Body's Voice: The Process of "Awakening Insight"
Let's return to our discussion. During sessions, while listening to clients, we also encourage them to direct their awareness towards their own bodies. When this happens, a link may form between a certain emotion and a physical symptom, leading to a sudden moment of "insight." Furthermore, it is not uncommon for symptoms to alleviate simply by directing awareness towards them.
Even more surprisingly, symptoms can sometimes link to unexpected body parts, emotions, or even past events. This is precisely why it is profoundly important to view the client holistically (as a whole), rather than just focusing on the symptoms themselves.
The bodyworker delicately senses these shifts in body and mind, confirming the state with the client as the session unfolds. How thought patterns and emotional issues arise and manifest as physical symptoms, and Unfolding Bodywork's role within the healing process of these symptoms, is understood through the following progression:
The Flow of Problem Manifestation and the Flow of Healing/Resolution
- Above all, it is crucial for clients themselves to "awaken awareness" to the problems occurring in their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, habits, and body. Because with awareness, the "choice" to cease those patterns becomes possible.
For this to happen, communication is indispensable, and Unfolding Bodywork places immense importance on this aspect. Establishing a strong collaborative relationship with the client is the primary and significant task for an Unfolding Bodywork practitioner, and it can greatly influence the effectiveness of healing.
Why not listen to the messages your body and mind are speaking? Unfolding Bodywork encourages your "awareness" and assists you in restoring harmony of mind and body through your innate self-healing power.
